Technology plays an increasingly important role in the lives of people, including the elderly. Today, it is used to maintain social connections, access information, travel, make payments, and support ageing at home. The correct use of technology by older adults is essential, as it enables them to fully benefit from social participation, health, and autonomy.

Consistent to demographic ageing, the demand for technological support among seniors is growing and diversifying, and the current training offer needs to be completed with additional support services. As part of a mandate from CURAVIVA Switzerland, we identified several area of intervention in this field:

• Make the vocabulary more understandable and highlight the advantages of technology for the elderly to increase its uptake.
• Highlight technologies oriented towards the concrete needs of seniors (e.g. payments, mobility, shopping).
• Improve access to the support offered.
• Consider elderly’s specific needs in designing such technologies (e.g. basic digital skills, functional limitations, resources, etc.).
